These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legal agreement between you and Croo ("Company", "we", "us", or "our") regarding the use of our platform, website, mobile applications, and services (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using Croo in any way, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you may not use our Service.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on our platform. Your continued use of the Service after changes indicates acceptance of the modified Terms.
2. Eligibility and Account Requirements
2.1 Age Requirement
You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account and use Croo. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you are 18 or older and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.
2.2 Account Registration
To use certain features of our Service, you must register for an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
- Maintain the confidentiality of your password and account credentials
- Accept full responsibility for all activities that occur under your account
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations
2.3 Account Types
You may register as either a crew member or a regular user. Crew members can create public profiles. Users can search for crew and leave ratings. Some features may require a specific account type.
2.4 Terms Acceptance
By completing account registration, you explicitly accept our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. You must be at least 18 years old to register.
3. Crew Member Profiles
3.1 Profile Creation and Content
Crew members may create professional profiles to showcase their experience, qualifications, and availability. You are solely responsible for all content you post in your profile, including:
- Accuracy and truthfulness of all information
- Professional quality of photos and documents
- Compliance with applicable laws and regulations
3.2 Profile Approval Process
All crew profiles are subject to review and approval by our moderation team before becoming publicly visible. We may request clarifications, ask for additional information, or reject profiles that do not meet our standards. Approval typically occurs within 24-48 hours.
3.3 Prohibited Profile Content
You may not post content that:
- Is false, misleading, or fraudulent
- Contains someone else's personal information without consent
- Violates intellectual property rights
- Is sexually explicit, profane, or offensive
- Promotes illegal activities or services
- Contains excessive promotional content or spam
- Impersonates another person or entity
3.4 Profile Authenticity
You certify that all information in your crew profile is accurate and truthful. You represent that certifications, licenses, and qualifications mentioned in your profile are authentic and valid. Providing false information may result in account suspension or termination.
3.5 Credential Responsibility
You are solely responsible for ensuring that all credentials, certifications, and qualifications listed in your profile remain valid and current. Croo does not independently verify certifications; employers must conduct their own verification.
4. User Conduct and Prohibited Activities
4.1 Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to engage in any of the following activities:
- Illegal Activity: Post content or engage in conduct that violates any law or regulation
- Fraud and Deception: Provide false information, impersonate others, or deceive other users
- Harassment and Abuse: Harass, bully, threaten, defame, or abuse other users
- Spam: Send unwanted messages, advertisements, or repetitive content
- Hate Speech: Post content that discriminates based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or disability
- Malware: Introduce viruses, malware, or harmful code to the platform
- Unauthorized Access: Attempt to gain unauthorized access to systems or accounts
- Scraping: Use bots or automated tools to scrape data without permission
- Platform Manipulation: Artificially boost ratings, manipulate search results, or engage in coordinated abuse
- Intellectual Property Violation: Infringe on copyrights, trademarks, or other IP rights
- Payment Fraud: Engage in chargebacks, refund fraud, or unauthorized payment claims
4.2 Professional Communication
All communications on Croo must be professional and respectful. We reserve the right to remove messages that are abusive, threatening, or violate these Terms.
4.3 Compliance with Laws
You are responsible for complying with all applicable laws and regulations when using Croo, including maritime labor laws, visa requirements, work permit regulations, and employment law.
5. Ratings and Reviews
5.1 Rating Requirements
When leaving a rating, you agree that:
- The rating is based on a genuine, direct working relationship
- You have personal knowledge of the crew member's performance
- The information is truthful and accurate to the best of your knowledge
- You will not leave multiple ratings for the same crew member
5.2 Rating Content Standards
Ratings must be:
- Honest and factual, not opinion-based
- Professional in tone and language
- Free of personal attacks, threats, or harassment
- Between 20-2000 characters in written reviews
- Relevant to the crew member's professional performance
We will remove ratings that are defamatory, abusive, irrelevant, or violate these standards.
5.3 Rating Editing
You may edit your rating once within a limited time window after posting. Once edited, the rating cannot be changed further to maintain authenticity.
5.4 Rating Authenticity
You certify that each rating you leave is based on your genuine experience working with that crew member. Fabricated, manipulated, or fraudulent ratings violate these Terms and may result in account suspension or legal action.
5.5 Crew Responses
Crew members may respond to ratings on their profile. Responses must be professional, factual, and not contain threats or harassment. Croo reserves the right to remove inappropriate responses.
6. Intellectual Property Rights
6.1 Platform Ownership
All content on the Croo platform, including text, graphics, logos, images, software, and design elements, is the property of Croo or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
6.2 User Content License
By posting content to Croo (profiles, ratings, reviews, photos, documents), you grant Croo a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual license to use, reproduce, modify, display, and distribute that content for the purposes of operating the platform, improving services, and promoting the community.
6.3 User Content Ownership
You retain ownership of content you create. However, you grant Croo the right to display and use your content as described above. Once posted, content may be permanently stored, even after account deletion.
6.4 Third-Party Content
You may not post content you do not own or have the right to post. You are liable for any infringement of intellectual property rights. We may remove infringing content and suspend repeat infringers.
7. Limitation of Liability and Disclaimer
7.1 Platform Purpose
Croo is a platform that connects yacht crew members with vessel owners. We do not guarantee employment, placement, or income. We do not directly employ crew members or make hiring decisions for employers.
7.2 No Guarantees on Crew Quality
While we verify crew profiles, we cannot guarantee the accuracy of all information or the quality of service provided by crew members. Employers are responsible for conducting their own due diligence, background checks, credential verification, and interviews.
7.3 Rating Accuracy Disclaimer
Ratings and reviews reflect the personal opinions of individual users based on their experiences. Croo does not endorse or guarantee the accuracy of ratings. You should consider ratings as one factor among many when making hiring decisions.
7.4 No Professional Advice
Information on Croo does not constitute legal, financial, employment, maritime, or professional advice. You should seek appropriate professional counsel for questions about employment law, maritime regulations, taxes, insurance, and visa requirements.
7.5 Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Croo shall not be liable for:
- Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- Loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunity
- Disputes between crew members and employers
- Non-payment of agreed compensation
- Injury, illness, or accidents occurring during employment
- Actions or inactions of other users
- Unauthorized access to or alteration of user data
Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid to use our Service (if any), or $100, whichever is greater.
7.6 Service "AS IS"
Croo provides the Service on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with all devices. We are not liable for delays, failures, or interruptions.
8. Privacy and Data Protection
Your use of Croo is also governed by our Privacy Policy. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand our data practices. By using Croo, you consent to the collection and use of your data as described in the Privacy Policy.
9. Third-Party Links and Services
Croo may contain links to third-party websites and services. We do not endorse or control these external sites and are not responsible for their content, privacy practices, or terms. Your use of third-party sites is at your own risk and subject to their terms.
10. Termination of Service
10.1 Termination by User
You may terminate your Croo account at any time by going to account settings and selecting "Delete Account". Upon deletion, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.
10.2 Termination by Croo
We may terminate or suspend your account immediately, without notice, if you:
- Violate these Terms of Service
- Engage in illegal activity
- Harass or abuse other users
- Post false or fraudulent information
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
- Spam or send unsolicited messages
- Create multiple accounts to evade bans or restrictions
- Use automated tools or bots
10.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination, your access to Croo will be immediately revoked. We will delete your account data within 30 days (except where retention is required by law). Historical data such as ratings you gave to others may remain on the platform in anonymized form.
11. Dispute Resolution and Governing Law

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Croo, its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your use of the Service
- Content you post on the platform
- Your infringement of intellectual property rights
- Disputes with other users
13. Modifications to the Service
Croo reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of features or functionality.
14. Employment Status Clarification
Crew members who connect with employers through Croo are independent contractors, not employees of Croo. Croo does not manage employment relationships, negotiate wages, arrange travel, or handle employment benefits. All employment terms, compensation, and conditions are negotiated directly between crew members and employers.
15. Compliance with Laws
15.1 Maritime and Labor Laws
Both crew members and employers are responsible for complying with all applicable maritime laws, labor regulations, and international conventions, including:
- STCW (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping)
- MLC (Maritime Labour Convention)
- Flag state requirements
- Work visa and immigration laws
- Minimum wage and labor standards
- Health and safety regulations
15.2 Age Verification
You verify that you are at least 18 years old. We may request age verification at any time. False age information will result in account termination.
15.3 Compliance Responsibility
Croo is not responsible for ensuring compliance with maritime or employment laws. Employers are responsible for conducting background checks, verifying credentials, and ensuring all hires comply with applicable regulations.
16. Entire Agreement
These Terms of Service, together with the Privacy Policy and any other policies posted on Croo, constitute the entire agreement between you and Croo regarding the use of our Service. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in effect.
